Early Life and Career

Robert Habeck was born on September 2, 1969, in Lübeck, Germany. He studied philosophy and philology at the University of Freiburg and worked as a journalist and writer before entering politics.

Political Career

In 2009, Habeck joined the Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). He served as state chairman of the party in Schleswig-Holstein from 2012 to 2018, and as federal chairman from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, he became Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in the government of Olaf Scholz.

Popularity and Challenges

Habeck remains one of Germany's most popular politicians. However, he has been overtaken in the polls by his former co-leader in the Green Party, Annalena Baerbock.
