Early Life and Career

WEB Morgan Valentine Spurlock (November 7, 1970 – May 23, 2024) was an American documentary filmmaker, writer, and television producer. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he grew up in Beckley, where his father, Ben, owned and operated an auto parts store.

Super Size Me and Subsequent Work

Spurlock gained international recognition with his 2004 documentary "Super Size Me," in which he consumed only McDonald's food for 30 days to expose the potentially harmful effects of fast food. The film was nominated for an Academy Award and sparked a national conversation about obesity and nutrition.

After "Super Size Me," Spurlock went on to produce and host several other documentaries, including "Where in the World Is Osama bin Laden?" (2008) and "Mansome" (2012). He also hosted the CNN series "Morgan Spurlock: Inside Man," which featured in-depth investigations on various social issues.
